Terms of Service
Last updated: May 23, 2026
These Terms govern the use of the crispl.io website, the Crispl app and related services (the “Service”), provided by TeamLab S.r.l. (“we”). By using the Service you accept these Terms.
1. The service
Crispl is an application that lets you scan food product labels (via barcode or photo) and receive an informational personalized score based on the profile you set, along with alternative suggestions and an AI-based chat.
2. Who can use Crispl
To use the Service you must be at least 16 years old (or the minimum age set by the law of your country to consent to data processing). By using the Service you confirm you meet this requirement.
3. Account and registration
Some features require an account. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for activity carried out through your account. Tell us promptly of any unauthorized use.
4. Plans and subscriptions
Crispl offers a free plan (with a daily scan limit) and paid Pro plans.
- Purchases are made through the stores (App Store / Google Play) or other indicated channels, under their respective terms. Billing and refunds for purchases made through the stores are handled by the stores under their policies.
- Auto-renewing subscriptions renew at expiry unless turned off before the end of the period, manageable from your store account settings.
- Prices are in EUR; promotional prices (e.g. early adopter) may be replaced by the regular price at any time, with no effect on purchases already completed.
- Withdrawal (EU consumers): for digital content and services, by asking us to begin performance immediately you acknowledge that you lose the 14-day right of withdrawal once you have accessed the Pro feature (Art. 59 of the Italian Consumer Code, D.Lgs. 206/2005, and Art. 16(m) of Directive 2011/83/EU). For purchases through the stores, refunds follow the store’s policies.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service for unlawful purposes, not to attempt to compromise its security, not to carry out mass scraping or unauthorized automated use, not to infringe third-party rights, and not to circumvent usage limits or security measures.
6. Informational nature of the service — no medical advice
Crispl is an informational and educational tool. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment or personalized nutritional counseling.
- The score and content do not replace the advice of a doctor, dietitian, nutritionist or other qualified healthcare professional.
- Information on allergens and ingredients may be incomplete or out of date: always check the original product label, especially for allergies or intolerances. Do not rely solely on Crispl for decisions concerning your health.
- For any health condition, specific diet or symptom, consult a qualified professional. In case of emergency or severe allergic reaction, contact emergency services immediately.
7. Third-party data and accuracy of information
Crispl displays information that comes in part from third-party sources and collaborative food databases (e.g. Open Food Facts), as well as from the automated analysis of the labels you photograph.
- This data may be incomplete, inaccurate, out of date or wrong: we do not produce it and cannot guarantee its correctness.
- The score, ingredients, nutritional values, allergens and any prices shown are purely indicative.
- The original product label always prevails: check directly on the packaging, especially for allergens and intolerances.
8. AI-generated content
The score, suggestions and chat in Crispl are generated, wholly or in part, by artificial intelligence systems.
- AI output is assistive and informational only: it may contain errors, inaccuracies or incorrect interpretations of the label.
- We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness or fitness for a particular purpose of AI-generated content.
- AI features may be subject to usage limits and depend on the availability of third-party providers: they may be temporarily unavailable.
- You are responsible for your decisions: do not rely solely on AI output for choices concerning your health (see §6).
9. Your content and license
You retain ownership of the content you upload (label photos, diary entries, profile data).
- You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, process and display that content solely to provide the Service, including storage on cloud infrastructure and sending it to AI providers for analysis.
- You warrant that you have the right to upload the content you provide.
- The license terminates when you remove the content or delete your account, subject to reasonable technical windows and legal retention obligations.
10. Intellectual property
The Service, the “Crispl” trademark, the software, content and design are owned by TeamLab S.r.l. or their respective owners and are protected by applicable laws. No rights are granted other than to use the Service under these Terms. You may not copy, modify, redistribute or reverse-engineer the software, design or proprietary components of the Service.
11. Service availability
The Service is provided on an “as available” basis. We do not guarantee any service level (SLA) or any specific uptime.
- The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates or technical issues.
- Some features depend on third-party providers and may degrade or be interrupted for reasons attributable to them.
- We will make reasonable efforts to keep the Service available, without guaranteeing uninterrupted access.
12. Warranties and disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. In particular, we do not warrant:
- uninterrupted, secure or error-free operation;
- that the Service will meet your specific needs or expectations;
- the accuracy, currency or completeness of third-party data and AI-generated content;
- the continued availability of the third-party services Crispl depends on.
Mandatory consumer warranties remain unaffected; nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or limit them.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- our total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with the Service or these Terms is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the event and (b) €50;
- we are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special or punitive damages;
- we are not liable for loss of data, profits, opportunities or reputational harm;
- we are not liable for damages arising from decisions made by relying on the score, third-party data or AI output, nor from allergic reactions or health consequences related to use of the Service (see §6 and §15).
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for willful misconduct or gross negligence, for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for any liability that cannot be excluded by law, including mandatory consumer-protection rules. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations: in that case, they apply only to the extent permitted.
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless TeamLab S.r.l., its officers, employees and contractors from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your breach of these Terms; (c) your violation of third-party rights or of the law; (d) the consequences of decisions made by relying on the score, third-party data or AI output without the checks set out in these Terms. For consumers, this clause applies only to the extent permitted by law.
15. Assumption of risk
You acknowledge and agree that:
- you use the Service at your own risk;
- Crispl is an informational tool, not a medical device nor a nutritional-counseling or product-certification service;
- you must always check the original product label, especially for allergens and intolerances;
- you are solely responsible for the food and health decisions you make.
16. Force majeure
We are not liable for any failure or delay caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to: natural disasters, pandemics, acts of government, war, terrorism, civil unrest, power or network outages, cyberattacks, and third-party provider outages.
17. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate access to the Service in case of breach of these Terms. You may stop using it and request deletion of your account at any time. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (intellectual property, limitation of liability, indemnification, governing law and jurisdiction) remain in force.
18. Changes to the Terms
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be communicated by appropriate means with reasonable prior notice (normally at least 15 days); continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance. The date at the top indicates the last update.
19. Governing law, jurisdiction and dispute resolution
These Terms are governed by Italian law. Disputes are subject to the courts of Lecco, Italy, without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection rules: for EU consumers, the law of your country of residence may also apply and, where provided, the courts of your place of residence remain competent.
EU consumers may also use the European Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
20. General provisions
- Entire agreement: these Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and TeamLab S.r.l. regarding the Service.
- Severability: if any provision is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect.
- No waiver: failure to enforce a right does not constitute a waiver of that right.
- Assignment: you may not assign these Terms or your account without our prior written consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
